Overview
This 1960 Porsche 356 Roadster is presented in its original Ivory color, paired with a period-correct red interior and black soft top. It has a fascinating history, having previously been owned by renowned Porsche restorers Harvey and Linda Smith for over three decades. During their ownership, the car was equipped with the rare and more powerful ‘Super 90’ engine. Before the Smiths acquired it, the Roadster belonged to David Koehn of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who purchased the car in 1975. Koehn listed it for sale in the Porsche Panorama magazine, where Linda Smith spotted the car of her dreams. Harvey traveled to Wisconsin to collect the car, but the engine failed during the journey back to Arizona. Undeterred, the Smiths replaced the original motor with a 1962 Super 90 engine, which remains in the car to this day. Tragically, Linda Smith never had the chance to drive her dream car, as the restoration was left unfinished at the time of her passing in 2005.
In 2007, the Roadster was sold to Texas-based enthusiast Ibrahim Kuzu, who eventually decided to focus on another project. Kuzu sold the car in 2009 to Wisconsin collector Carl Zapffe. Under Zapffe's ownership, the car was sent to Terry Worick Restorations in Eagle, Nebraska, where it underwent a meticulous, bare-metal rotisserie restoration. The car remained in Zapffe’s collection for six years before being acquired by the current owner.
